Local Area 1 Youth Council

The Youth Council is a subgroup of the Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIB or Board). Its membership derives of both Board members and non Board members. Generally speaking, members of the Youth Council include representatives of youth service agencies, law enforcement and juvenile justice, parents of eligible youth, Job Corps representatives, educators and former participants (youth).

The Youth Council advises the Board on youth programming and policy issues relating to youth. For example, the Youth Council recommends eligible providers of youth services to the Board and monitors activity of those services. The Youth Council has a dynamic and talented corps of individuals, with specialties that range the whole gamut of youth services.

The Youth Council meets throughout the calendar year, with meetings scheduled as the workload dictates. All Youth Council meetings are open to the public.
