Message From the Executive Director

It has been said, “Success is measured not so much by the positions one has reached in life as by the obstacles one had to overcome to reach them.” That is what WIA is all about – helping individuals and businesses overcome obstacles to success. Few people are more aware of the importance of the services WIA provides than I. Because of initiatives like WIA, I was able to complete my undergraduate work, which has lead to becoming a member of this team of dedicated individuals.

This is a special opportunity for me to “give something back” by continuing the wonderful work of those who came before me. I am especially concerned with the economic changes that are taking place in Aroostook and Washington Counties, and the role the WIA collaborative will play in helping to advocate for the needs of our local area at all levels of government. Our power to influence positive economic growth will rest in our ability to strengthen partnerships among the organizations within WIA, and the organizations that are a part of the local service delivery area. Each of us working together can make more effective and efficient use of our time, talents and financial resources, thereby enhancing our ability to serve people and businesses and provide for the economic growth of our area.
